I finally got around to finishing reading the Soul Eater manga. To fill in some time between commissions, I have designed and printed several props from the series. The first to be finished is Black Star's kusarigama chain scythe. In the series, Tsubaki turns into a pair of these, but for time's sake, I only made one.
The base of the prop is 3d printed PLA. The model I designed is printed in 7 parts and affixed using weld on 3. The handle is made using 3/4 inch pvc piping. I scaled the scythe using the pipe as reference, which ended up making it fairly large. I'm thinking of doing a two scythe build using 1/2 inch pvc if I get enough time. I used XTC-3d as my filler material, and sanded it smooth.
The chain is pre-made, and attached using a screw on link. The handle is brush painted with Tamiya gloss yellow. Metallic parts are done using Rustoleum aluminum spray. Remaining colors were airbrushed on with various leftover paints.
And that's the finished model. I have a Ragnarok build all constructed and a Soul Eater modeled. Look for their write ups in the near future.
