I'd like to say that I made these in honor of the new Underworld film, Underworld: Blood Wars, but I started these props last August. The timing did work out in the end though, and I'm excited to see the new entry in the series. The guns were always front and center in the Underworld films, and the most iconic are Selene's dual Berettas. In the films, she modified a pair of Beretta 92FS's with burst fire mods and compensators. I thought it would be fun to do a quick version of these with Beretta 92FS airsoft guns from Umarex.

In order to do this, I modeled compensators to go around the existing barrel. I measured around the orange caps using calipers and 3d printed the compensators in halves. The body of the airsoft guns are unchanged, so they're completely functional as airsoft guns.

In order to hide the 3d printed texture, I used a layer of XTC-3d epoxy and some Bondo spot putty. I also used some filler primer before sanding it at different grits. The two halves were then glued together using Weld on 3.
I couldn't quite get paint to match what was already there, so I just repainted the whole thing. I used Tamiya Metallic Black spray for the body, and Rustoleum Flat Aluminum for the tip. I planned on playing around with some weathering, so I took a few photos beforehand for comparison.
To give them a look like they've been used to shoot scores of werewolves, I decided to use two different weathering techniques. I used a process called dry brushing to simulate scratches on major joints and edges. This was done by painting small amount of Tamiya Mica Silver paint on the edges using a micro brush that had been wiped dry. The second technique was simulating gunpowder stains. After repeated firing, blackish grey residue builds up around the front of the barrel. I did this by airbrushing very small coats of matte black primer around the area. I just set up my new photo booth, and took these pictures of the finalized props. Hope you like them!
